Help End WeFollow Abuse
FamousDC took on Facebook Abuse. I’m ready to take on its cousin, WeFollow Abuse.
WeFollow (@WeFollow) is a perfectly wonderful white page director for Twitter. You can find the top Twitter people (Tweeps?) on just about any topic imaginable. After a few minutes of searching your favorite hash tag, something primal wells up inside you and you register your own Twitter account.
And then it happens: WeFollow gives birth to the never ending tweet.
Just added myself to the http://wefollow.com twitter directory under: #advertising #marketing #publicrelations
If you don’t use a program like TweetDeck to filter your public timeline, what I’m about to say won’t make much sense. TweetDeck allows you to follow Groups or Searched terms. If you have a Searched term such as #advertising, and a Tweep adds himself to WeFollow’s #advertising group, you will see it.
In the course of an hour, WeFollow announcements can overtake real conversations by a 50:1 margin. It’s incredibly annoying until you add an exclusion filter to TweetDeck screening out every mention of WeFollow. So here are my recommendations for using WeFollow.
- Please use WeFollow. It’s a great directory and an easy way to follow topics you care about.
- When you sign up and register for a director, DON’T CLICK THE NOTIFICATION TWEET!!!
Thank you.
