YouTube Sharing the Wealth with Content Producers
YouTube has decided to share the wealth with the people that produce original content.
YouTube…will start sharing advertising cash with users who upload the most popular clips of everything from skateboarding dogs to dancing babies.
The video site, which is owned by Web search giant Google Inc, said it will extend its YouTube partnership program to allow individuals to make money when their videos are deemed eligible based on the number of views and how widely they are shared with other users.
Although Goldman Sachs estimates that YouTube will generate $300-million in revenue this year, the service still faces fierce competition from Hulu and others. The profit sharing concept is an attempt to reward (and encourage) video makers to take a shot at their Fifteen Minutes of Fame.
I guess I need to dig through my wedding video to see if there is anything worth posting.
