Catholics Come Home to Chicago, Joliet and Rockford
Catholics Come Home is a non-profit organization that creates media messages designed to evangelize inactive Catholics with the goal of inviting them back to the Roman Catholic Church. Today their media outreach program launches Northern Illinois through a combined effort of the Archdiocese of Chicago, Diocese of Rockford, and Diocese of Joliet.
The million dollar advertising campaign includes both broadcast and cable advertising, internet outreach on the websites of each Diocese, and a missionary component involving every parish in these areas.
[Disclosure: I am a member of the Parish Pastoral Council at the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus in the Diocese of Joliet.]
The campaigns developed by Catholics Come Home have been very successful in other areas of the United States. For example, attendance at Mass in the Diocese of Phoenix increased 12-percent after the campaign. In the Diocese of Corpus Christi, Texas, saw at 17-percent increase in attendance after their campaign in Lent 2009.
