The Heritage Corridor is part of the Metra commuter rail service. The line begins at Union Station in Joliet and ends at Union Station in Chicago. The name refers to the Illinois and Michigan Canal Heritage Corridor that runs parallel to the rail line.

According to Metra, the line’s timetable color is “Alton Maroon,” honoring the Alton Railroad, which once connected Chicago to St. Louis via Joliet.
