Spanning the Des Plaines River, just south of downtown Joliet, is a drawbridge for freight trains running along the CSX line.
There is no set name for this bridge, built in 1932 by American Bridge Company. The Coast Guard calls the bridge “Chessie System Transportation Bridge” after Chessie System, the “C” in CSX. The US Corp of Engineers calls the bridge “Chicago, Rock Island, Pacific RR Bridge” who owned the line until about 1980.
