It’s clear from looking at The New Hotel Plaza on Clinton Street that the hotel isn’t very new. From the outside, it appears to be a time capsule from the mid-1950s. On the inside, it provides respite to less fortunate patrons.
Last January, a toddler flipped a switch in an elevator causing it to stop between the first and second floors. When the switch was turned on, the interior door opened and the child fell 30 feet down the elevator shaft. Fortunately, he survived.
